Specialty Contacts

Cornea with Scleral LensContact lenses are a great vision correction option for many people.  However, certain conditions make wearing traditional gas permeable or soft contact lenses uncomfortable or not visually ideal. This is especially true if you are over 40 or have a medical condition which changes the shape of your cornea.  In these cases, specialty contacts are not only preferable, they’re necessary to give you the best vision.  The eye doctors at Farmington Vision Care fit several different types of specialty contacts including multi-focal contacts, gas permeable contact lenses, specialty soft contact lenses, hybrid contact lenses (both soft and gas permeable), and scleral contact lenses.

Specialty contacts may be indicated in patients with some of the following conditions:

  • Keratoconus
  • High Astigmatism
  • Dry Eye
  • Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC)
  • Corneal Scarring or history of corneal surgeries (LASIK, RK, PRK)
  • Pterygium
  • Presbyopia
  • Color Vision Deficiency
  • aniridia or albinism

If you suffer from one of the above conditions, meet with an eye doctor at Farmington Vision Care to get prescribed contact lenses that are tailored to deal with your specific vision condition. Call our office at 573-883-5665 to schedule a specialty contact lens evaluation.
